If you do not see the man with shovel next to the words Road Construction you will need to install Silverlight on your computer. This is a free application, similar to adobe acrobat, and you only need to install it one time on each computer you use. The necessary link for Silverlight is available at the bottom of the page for your convenience.

To navigate through the different interactive maps available use the two arrows under the Road Construction picture and then click on the link you wish to view.

Here is an overview of the maps available on this sight, starting at the far left and moving from left to right.

Map 1: Metro-East St. Louis Travel Information. This map shows a variety of information regarding roads specifically in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area.

Map 2: TravelMidwest.com. This map provides up-to-date information in order to make informed travel decisions. It provides available information about current traffic conditions and links to other sites which pertain to transportation related issues when traveling through the following counties:

• Boone, Bureau, Carroll, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Henry, Jo Daviess, Kendall, La Salle, Lake, Lee, Kane, McHenry, Ogle, Rock Island, Stephenson, Whiteside, Will, and Winnebago in Illinois
   

• Elkhart, LaGrange, Lake, LaPorte, Porter, St. Joseph, and Steuben in Indiana
   

• Columbia, Dane, Green, Jefferson, Kenosha, Lafayette, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Rock, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha in Wisconsin
   

• Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Eaton, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, and Van Buren in Michigan

The remaining maps are all based on the same interactive map but each one has specific options selected for you to view when you pull that map up. In addition to what has been selected for that map you can always turn on any additional options available in the Table of Contents.

Map 3: Roadway Weather Information System. This map shows several weather related conditions throughout several locations in Illinois.

Map 4: Road Construction. This map shows where all construction zones and road closures are throughout the state of Illinois.

Map 5: IDOT Interactive Mapping. his map is the default interactive map and nothing specific is selected.

Map 6: Average Annual Daily Traffic. This map shows the traffic volume of some routes throughout Illinois.

Map 7: Truck Permit Routes. This map shows several issues that may affect a permitted load traveling through Illinois, such as, Vertical Clearances, Toll Road Bridges, Temporary Restrictions, Permanent Restrictions, Posted Ton Structures, Legal Weight Structures. On this map you also have the option to view what routes are maintained by what jurisdiction, State, County, Municipality, Township, etc…
