SCHAUMBURG,
IL -- Beginning May 3, there will be some moving road
work on Illinois Routes 38 and 47 in the Sugar Grove,
Elburn and Lily Lake areas. Workers will be sealing
joints and cracks on IL 38, from the DeKalb County Line
to IL 47. Another crew will be working on IL 47 between
IL 64 and Seavey Road .
These will be daytime moving operations, with no
permanent lane closures. Flaggers will direct
traffic around the work zones. The total cost of
these projects is about $200,000. The work is
scheduled to be completed by early June, weather
permitting. Motorists should drive with care through
the construction zones and watch for slowed or
stopped traffic and workers. The contractors for the
projects are Freehill Asphalt Incorporated of
Watseka and K.R. Hartman Incorporated of Kankakee ,
Illinois .

IDOT would like to remind motorists to abide by the
posted speed limit and use extra caution when driving in
work zones. When workers are present on Illinois
highways the speed limit is 45 mph, unless otherwise
posted. Keep Us Alive Drive 45 is the Orange Ribbon
campaign IDOT launched this construction season to
recognize those who have lost their lives in work zones
and to remind motorists to slow down and stay alert when
driving. In 2003, 44 people were killed in work zone
related accidents. Five of those people were
construction workers. In addition, one IDOT minuteman
and a tollway worker were killed while on duty.
