IDOT TO HALT MOST ROAD WORK
FOR EASTER WEEKEND

SPRINGFIELD, IL -- The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that highway construction work will be suspended where possible, on state highways to give motorists a break during the Easter holiday period.

Work zones will be opened for normal traffic patterns during the afternoon of Friday, April 18, and will remain open until midnight Sunday, April 20.

However, there will be a number of work zones that will continue to have lane closures. Motorists are advised to slow down and be alert in those work zones, and are reminded that work zone speed limits are still in effect.

In the greater Chicago area there will be work on the following expressways:

• Interstate 290/IL 53, three lanes of traffic will be open in each direction from Higgins Rd. (IL 72) to Thorndale Ave. for road reconstruction. The Higgins Rd. entrance to northbound I-290 is closed.
  
  
• Interstate 57, Two lanes open in each direction between I-80 in Country Club Hills and the Dan Ryan interchange, road rehabilitation. Northbound lanes of traffic cross over to southbound lanes between 147th and 127th Streets. Halsted St. entrance and exit ramps, and the 127th St. exit ramp are closed to northbound motorists. East and westbound I-80 ramps to northbound I-57 are reduced to one lane.
  
  
• Interstate 80 at US 45, northbound US 45 entrance ramp to eastbound I-80 will be closed, motorists will be detoured using the three loop ramps at this interchange. On US 45 from 179th to 191st Streets, one lane open in each direction due to pavement reconstruction.

ADAMS COUNTY

• IL 96, Curtis Creek Bridge south of State Street in Quincy, bridge replacement. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.
  
  
• US 24 Eastbound, Quincy Memorial Bridge closed for painting. Traffic placed on westbound Bayview Bridge. One lane of traffic in each direction.

• I-57 one mile south of Cairo, bridge repairs. One lane open each direction.

• Interstate 80 at mile marker 50, bridge work over West Bureau Creek north of Wyanet. One lane open in each direction.
  
  
• Interstate 80, mile marker 36 to 40, bridge work on three sets of bridges. One lane open in each direction.

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY

• Interstate 57, mile marker 219 to 233, bridge deck replacements. One lane open in each direction.
  
  
• Prairie View Road over I-74 at mile marker 174, bridge deck replacement. One lane on Prairie View Road, controlled by signals.

• Interstate 70, mile marker 111 to 121, bridge deck replacements. One lane open in each direction.
  
  
• Interstate 70, mile marker 136 to 147, pavement reconstruction of the eastbound lanes. All traffic on westbound lanes with one lane in each direction.
  

COLES COUNTY

• Interstate 57, mile marker 191 to 197, bridge deck repairs on four bridges. One lane in each direction.

• IL 121 over the Embarras River north of Greenup, bridge repair. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• IL 185 at the Fayette/Montgomery County line, bridge construction. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• IL 37 about two miles north of Benton, bridge repairs. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• IL 97 north of Cuba, bridge repairs. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• IL 100, Joe Page lift bridge over Illinois River at Hardin, bridge rehabilitation. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• Interstate 80, mile marker 117, eastbound Three Rivers Rest Area closed.

• IL 242, 6 miles north of McLeansboro, box culvert construction. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• Interstate 80 Eastbound, mile marker 11, bridge replacement over Osco Road. One lane of traffic eastbound.
  
  
• Interstate 80, mile marker 19 to 36, pavement and bridge work from Geneseo to Annawan. One lane open in each direction.

IROQUOIS COUNTY

• US 24 at east side of Watseka, bridge work. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• IL 3, one mile south of Gorham, bridge repairs. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.
  
  
• Old IL 13, 4 miles west of Carbondale, bridge replacement. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

• IL 37, south of Mt. Vernon at Dodd's Creek, bridge construction. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• IL 146 over the CN/IC Railroad, two miles northwest of Dixon Springs, bridge replacement. One lane detour open, traffic controlled by signals.

KANKAKEE COUNTY

• IL 17 between Reddick and Union Hill, work on two bridges. One lane open at each bridge, traffic controlled by signals.

• US 150 east of Galesburg, bridge repairs. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• IL 351 over Illinois River, bridge replacement. Road closed, detour posted.
  
  
• US 34 at Earlville, bridge work. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

LAWRENCE COUNTY

• IL 1 near Pinkstaff, bridge construction. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• Interstate 55, mile marker 123 to 127 on west side of Lincoln, bridge deck replacement. Two lanes open in each direction.

• IL 111 over Otter Creek south of Hettick, bridge reconstruction. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• Interstate 55, mile marker 179 to 181, bridge work. One lane open in each direction.
  
  
• Interstate 55, mile marker 186 to 187, bridge work. One lane open in each direction.

PEORIA COUNTY

• Interstate 74, westbound exit 93B (Washington St.) closed for sewer installation. Adams Street fork closed, drivers can use the Washington Street fork as alternative.
  
  
• US 24 at the IL 9 intersection, intersection reconstruction, lane restrictions in each direction.

POPE COUNTY

• IL 146 at the west edge of Golconda, bridge replacement. One lane detour open, traffic controlled by signals.

• Interstate 74, mile marker 0 to 1, rehabilitation of the structures from the Mississippi River to 7th Street in Moline. One lane open in each direction. Eastbound off-ramp to 7th St. and the 7th St. on-ramp to westbound I-74 are both closed to traffic.
  
  
• Interstate 74, mile marker 4 to 5, replacement of the bridges over the Rock River and at the I-280 interchange. One lane open in each direction. Eastbound I-74 ramp to I-280 and the I-280/74 ramp to eastbound I-74 are closed to traffic. Detours are marked for the ramp closures.
  
  
• Interstate 280, mile marker 13 to 17, bridge replacement over Airport Road as part of the interchange reconstruction. Eastbound ramps closed. One lane open in each direction.

SALINE COUNTY

• IL 34, 3.5 miles northwest of Galatia, box culvert replacement. One lane open, traffic controlled by signals.

• Interstate 55, mile marker 82 (Divernon) to 86.5 (Glenarm), bridge reconstruction. Two lanes open in each direction.

• Interstate 88, mile marker 35 to 37, bridge work over Rock River southwest of Rock Falls. One lane open in each direction.

• US 20 at Bus. 20 at west edge of Rockford, replacement of the eastbound US 20 bridge over Bus. 20. Eastbound restricted to one lane.
