COOK County, DesPlaines River-Rand Park Flood Control Phase II, Located in Des Plaines-pump station construction on Farmer Creek near its intersection with Busse Highway and clay blanket construction along the Union Pacific Railroad embankment just north of Joseph Schwab Road/ Campground Road. The work consists of converting the side slope of an existing 10 ft high pervious railroad embankment from a 2:1 slope to a 3:1 slope with a 2' thick impervious cap (3000 ft approx. length), constructing a reinforced concrete floodwall (200 ft. approx. length), a gated closure structure consisting of 7-8'x8' motorized sluice gates across Farmer Creek, a storm pumping station with 3-42" Vertical line shaft pumps (37,400 G.P.M. each pump and a sump pump (80 G.P.M.) to be constructed adjacent to the gated closure structure with appurtenant electrical and communication devices in the motor control center utilizing PLC in combination with a personal computer running SCADA software. Also, construct sheet pile retaining walls with concrete facing and chain link fence adjacent to pump station to contain surrounding embankment a combination log stop/trash rack with non-metallic trash racks between the log stops mounted on the pump station intake structure, concrete paving blocks, and cellular confinement system for erosion control around the pump station together with all appurtenant work required to complete the project.
