CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Work will begin on 10 miles of Interstate 74 in Champaign County on Monday, March 18, and motorists are advised there will be lane reductions and possible traffic slowdowns.

Work will include patching, resurfacing the driving lanes and shoulders, upgrading guardrail, installing new pipe underdrains, and other safety features. The work will take place between Mile marker 185 and 195 (from IL 30 just east of Urbana to 2.3 miles west of Ogden). Work will also include resurfacing the interchange ramps at St. Joseph (mile marker 192).

I-74 will periodically be reduced to one lane traffic in each direction during this work. The project is expected to be completed in September.

Motorists are advised to slow down and drive with caution through the work zone. Reduced speed limits will be strictly enforced.
