Dixon, Illinois……February 27, 2003……The Illinois Department
of Transportation, located in Dixon, announces an update to the
public regarding the construction status for roadway
improvements underway on I-74 from John Deere Road (IL 5) to
Airport Road in Moline which began September 12, 2001.
Beginning Monday, March 3, 2003, North Shore
Drive will be closed under I-74. On Wednesday, March 5,
2003, lane restrictions will be put into effect on the
westbound lanes of I-74. Lane restrictions on the eastbound
lanes will be put into effect on March 10, 2003.
Construction activities will require closing 3 ramps at the
I-280/I-74 interchange. (See project maps for which ramps
are to be closed and alternate routes for the specific ramp
closures.) Ramp closures will occur on March 11, 2003.
Alternate detour routes will be marked. Traffic on I-74 will
be reduced to one lane in each direction. Motorists are
reminded to use caution through the construction zone.
Reconstruction of the eastbound lanes is scheduled to be
completed by November 21, 2003. Project updates can be found on
the project website at www.I74.info. Civil Constructors, Inc. of
East Moline, IL is the prime contractor on this $30 million
project. Completion of the entire project is scheduled for June
2004.
