Get on Track with the Illinois State Rail Plan

The Illinois Department of Transportation is pleased to announce the initiation of the Illinois State Rail Plan. The Illinois State Rail Plan will provide a long range investment program framework for meeting the various needs of passenger and freight rail within the State. The plan will identify anticipated trends, needs and issues that will affect rail service and demand over the next two or three decades.

In an effort to facilitate public access to project information, a project website has been created and is hosted on the IDOT website. The website includes the study process and schedule, frequently asked questions and answers, links to related sites, commenting and mailing list sign-up opportunities, photos and the potential for two-way communication, through the use of e-mail.
