The Illinois Department of Transportation operates two free
ferries across the Illinois River. These ferries are operated 24 hours a day,
seven days a week. The Brussels ferry is located one mile west of Grafton and
crosses the Illinois River linking Illinois Route 100 to Calhoun County, near
Brussels. The Kampsville ferry crosses the Illinois River connecting Illinois
Route 108 and Illinois Route 100, near Kampsville.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, by agreement with
the Illinois Department of Transportation, provides free ferry service
across the Ohio River, seven days a week, from 6:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. The
Cave-in-Rock ferry crosses the Ohio River between Illinois Route 1 and
Kentucky Route 91, near Cave-in-Rock. Ferry closures can be accessed at
the IDOT web site under road closures.
