| Introduction
The Fiscal Year 2013 Highway Improvement Program provides
$1.759 billion of the $9.168 billion
included for highways in the FY 2013-2018 Proposed Multimodal
Transportation Improvement Program.
In addition, included are projects totaling $133 million that
use appropriations from previous
fiscal years and are scheduled to be implemented in FY 2013. As
a result, the FY 2013
Highway Improvement Program totals $1.892 billion.
The FY 2013 program is financed by an estimated $720 million of
federal funds, $1.094 billion of
state funds and $78 million of local funds. Nearly $1.369
billion is for projects on the state
highway system and $523 million is for projects on local
streets and highway systems.
A total of 379 miles of highways and 162 bridges will be
improved or constructed
through the FY 2013 program. Safety and traffic improvements at
79 locations are scheduled.
