Summary of Improvements

• Remove and replace the pavement on I-74 and I-155

• Add a through traffic lane on both eastbound and westbound I-74 to provide three lanes total in each direction of travel

• Reconfigure the I-74/I-155 interchange

• Replace the bridges on I-74 over I-155 and Jackson St.

• Remove the tunnels on Jefferson St. under I-74 and add bridges

• Remove the bridges over the abandoned railroad on I-74 and build roadway in their place

• Reconstruct on and off ramps at the I-74/Morton Ave. interchange

• Install traffic signals on Morton Ave. at the I-74/Morton Ave. interchange

• Construct median barrier wall on I-74 between the eastbound and westbound lanes

• Install highway lighting on I-74 and I-155

• Install Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) elements for traffic monitoring

• Install drainage features

2013 Construction Season (March – November)

• Construction will begin on I-74 and I-155

• Construction will begin on the ramps at the I-74/Morton Ave. interchange

• Construction will begin on Morton Ave. at the I-74/Morton Ave. interchange

• Temporary pavement will be constructed at the I-74/I155 interchange

• Bridge construction will begin at Jefferson St., Jackson St.

• Bridge removal will begin at the abandoned railroad on I-74

Winter Shutdown (December 2013 – February 2014)

2014 Construction Season (March – November)

• Construction of the north ramps at the I-74/I-155 interchange

• Construction of the I-155 bridges over I-74 at the I-74/I-155 interchange

• Construction will continue on the bridges at Jefferson St. and Jackson St.

• Construction will continue on the ramps at the I-74/Morton Ave. interchange

• Bridge removal will continue at the abandoned railroad bridge on I-74

• Construction will continue on I-74 and I-155

• Construction completed on I-74 and I-155

• Construction completed on all bridges on I-74
